Borja Larrondo
Filmmaker and photographer with a degree in Audiovisual Communication from the Complutense University of Madrid. In 2012 he attended the International Master of Documentary and Narration at Efti and is currently studying Social and Cultural Anthropology at the UNED. His work is based on the exploration of narrative-visual worlds, as well as experimental documentary filmmaking. He focuses on the idea of error and memory (real or imaginary), he translates fiction as part of a scene from reality; a personal imaginary made up of portrayed feelings and emotions. Defined as a multidisciplinary artist, his work and his installation stem from an interest in sociology and anthropological narratives as part of popular culture. He works on identity, psyche and perceptive capacity, raw and decadent. “The Road Bad and the Place Dark” is his first short film as a director.

Sierra Leone is the second poorest country in the world. After overcoming one of the toughest and bloodiest civil wars, in 2014 its citizens had to face one of the most devastating epidemics in living memory, the Ebola epidemic. The consequences of those horrors ended up with extinguishing the spark of development and plunging the population into total darkness, in which they have been living since 1992. The lack of stable light supply is a major constraint for the development of medical work, directly affecting the life expectancy of Sierra Leone people. The images obtained are part of the reality encountered at the hospital wardens in the Koinadugu district.
